Why St. Louis? Well, It's
Cheaper [St. Louis Post-Dispatch/Aug 03/1980/US] By Joe Pollack
The approaching movie to be
shot in St. Louis, with parts of downtown representing a prison-like New York
City, hired a bunch of extras recently, with a nighttime shooting schedule
planned. The extras will get $25 a day. In Los Angeles,
extras receive $68 a day. The film, Escape From New York, will not be
affected by the current Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television
and Radio Artists strike, because the producers have signed an interim agreement
to permit production to get under way.
