Movie Sets Readied For Filming [Granite City Press-Record/Aug 14/1980/US]


Movie sets are prepared this week on either end of the abandoned Chain of Rocks Bridge for filming of Escape From New York by Slam Dunk Productions. Above - A view of the bridge looking west near the Missouri end of the superstructure where derelict autos have been positioned. The last scene of the movie will be filmed here. At left - Masonry workers apply black mortar to a huge wall constructed for the film. Measuring 35 feet tall and more than 100 feet long, the "wall" surrounds the city of New York and is the last obstacle to freedom for the film's characters. Ernest Borgnine and Kurt Russell star in the production.
