MS One: Maximum Security (Lock-Up) (2012)

Synopsis:
A man wrongly convicted of conspiracy
to commit espionage against the U.S. is offered his freedom if he can rescue the
president’s daughter from an outer space prison taken over by violent inmates.
Sounds familiar. Apparently the trailer was recut due to the fact that
people began calling the movie

Black Light Script:
I just got some feedback for
this script from a couple of Snake fans who thinks David's concept is stupid and
somehow they thought Snake kept all the material stuff he got after the mission.
Rest assured, he doesn't keep it. What were you thinking?
Also guys, the US doesn't consists of 50 Security Towns. More like 6-7. 50 would
be ridiculous. I agree.
I also recently made some rewrites of my script review. I've been having second
thoughts about it. I read Ken Nolan's 2007 remake draft for the first time
yesterday and it led to other thoughts. I still find the concept of these
Security Towns intriguing. It reminds me of the dark biting satire in Land of
the Dead and They Live and I can't help to be amused by that.
However, I don't think this is the story most Snake fans wants. It's too
different and I can't help to miss the decaying city filled with dangerous
criminals. I still think David did some very unique and interesting stuff and I
wish him all the best.

Exclusive Interview With Coleman Luck

A very interesting exclusive interview with Coleman Luck (The
writer of the first and passed official Escape From L.A. script from 1985)
has proudly been added to the site. Read it
here.
I really appreciated this Coleman. Many Thanks.
I would also like to send out a message to RaulMonkey (the guy who bought
Coleman's only script) to
contact me, so
that we can talk about a possibility to get this script published on the net.

I have also located the former unknown shooting location used for the
Broadway Entrance sequence. It was in fact at the beginning of 22nd Locust
Street from the 23rd street. The same street used for the rest of the Broadway
scenes. Oh boy was I blind.

Behind the Curtain with John
Carpenter, Black Light Remake Script Review, New Forum
First of all, Kim Gottlieb-Walker updates us on the progress of the Behind the
Curtain with John Carpenter book:
"My book is on track for
release towards the end of 2012... if I can start focusing on getting it
together!"
Then I've also
had the privilege to read all three Escape From New York remake
drafts called Black Light written on spec by
David Webb (yes the guy who did the
From 1997 To 2013...
Snake fan page) that is currently being shopped around at different production
houses. To be honest, no one could have cared less than me for another attempt
on making a remake of our beloved movie. However, eventually I decided to give
it a chance and I liked more than I thought I would. It's different (maybe too
different). Please go ahead and
read my review of the latest and supposedly final draft.
Spoiler alert!
David has been faithful to the original movie while doing a whole new different twist on
it to make a more modern version of it. In his script New York is no longer a
prison but instead a maximum "safe" security town. The outlaws aren't inside,
but outside.
The US only consists of a couple of these maximum security towns and they all have their own
president. The president of New York is now the Duke of New York and he wants to
be the no. 1 and only president of the US. In this version it is the president
of L.A. who is held hostage by the Duke from an attack on the reconstructed twin
towers. The Duke has also obtained a weapon from him that can open up the walls,
air grid protections and borders in the security towns. Bob Hauk wants to
prevent a new civil war so they send in Snake to rescue the president of L.A.
and get the weapon back from the Duke. Most of the deleted scenes are back in
such as the opening sequence that was cut out of the original movie. This time
the bank robbery takes place in New York and it also feature a motorcycle chase
involving helicopters. Snake is then departed to Los Angeles in this version.
The flight sequence is obviously also longer and more ambitious. There are also
nods to the Novel. The Steri-Chamber chapter is added for instance. A
termination chamber which Snake has decide to enter has also been added by
David. Cabbie is also an old punk and Brain is a female senator in this version
with a past related to Snake. The fight with Slag is now also being broadcasted
across the US. There's also a very epic ending featuring a high octane subway
sequence, Crazies at the JFK Train Station, The Duke following Snake's Black
Flight Stealth Plane in a plane, crashing and having a fight with him in the New
Las Vegas desert. Snake also gets a house, an identity card, a social security
card, a health insurance card and a western union credit card with 2 billion
blue dollars on it etc. Rest assured, he doesn't keep the stuff. Instead he ends
the movie doing the only thing he should do. Any guess? We also get to see
sequences of Snake in Leningrad throughout the story and we also get to see footage from a trial
with Snake. There are a lot more alterations and changes, but I could go on and
on about it. These are the most
significant
changes and alterations.
Overall, I have very ambivalent feelings about it. There is enough references that
will keep the average Snake fan happy with nods to Escape From L.A. and
They
Live too. It is very epic, action packed and has an interesting social
commentary in there as well. However, there is some stuff that I don't like. The
Duke being behind the Leningrad Ruse for instance. It makes The Duke too much of
a traditional bad guy. I'm also not a fan of back stories. It demystifies Snake.
I also miss New York as a decaying city being filled with dangerous criminals. I think
most fans are gonna have a real hard time swallowing this. This isn't really
what fans wants. I also think David squeezed in way too much into the
script. A lot of stuff will have to go if it ever gets made. Also, I wouldn't
have minded things to be a little more toned down. However, David has done something new and unique about the concept
and I really enjoyed reading it for curiosities sake. Anyway, good luck David.
What do the rest of you think? Go the brand new
forum
and write your opinions.
I had problems with the other one, so I had to do another one. This will be the
final forum, I promise.

The 'Items' section has been improved. I wasn't pleased with the DVD section in
particular. Therefore I decided to add information (and purchase links) to all
the worldwide releases out there that I know of. The bonus feature etc on Escape
From New York varies a lot country to country so I felt it was time to kill off
a couple of days. I have done my best with it, but if you have any more
information about these DVDs, please let me know:

I also did the same with Blu-ray releases:

Another cool thing that is added is info and links to a Japanese custom made
clothes store called

that sells Snake Plissken's jacket and camouflage cargo pants.
I only wished they could've done bigger sizes:

Info on three other Snake Figures is also added:

It doesn't end here. Now there is also a
new page called Cultural References in
the 'Press' section. Check it out. Hope you enjoy it.
There is also some more info and trivia added: Press -
Info/Press - Trivia
And during all the research I came across many, many pictures. I have added
around 100 new pictures! Note: Many of them replaces old ones. There's some
great new pics to be discovered.
Kinopoisk,nu and
Premiere.fr were great
resources that I can recommend for instance.

Yes, most articles, interviews and fan fiction are now PDF files. They look
better (most of them) with images intact etc. A link is provided with articles

Fotog Ink Presents Rare
Tracks From Escape From New York and Escape From L.A. over at the Multimedia -
Music/Sounds page is now also corrected and sorted out. Many of the tracks were
exactly the same and Claudio Simonetti's cover of EFNY was in fact taken from
the German 12" Remix LP by The Splash Band.
By the way, most of the
released LP singles of EFNY has been added. The correct cover by Claudio
Simonetti too.
A lot of new small improvements and additions has also been made here and there.
31/03-11:
A special screening of Escape From New York at Queens Film Theater in
Belfast on Apr 7 will be held at 21:00. Here's the description:
To celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the release of Escape From New York we
present a special screening. Film historian Dr Robert Shail will introduce the
film and talk about Snake Plissken, Kurt Russell and the work of John Carpenter.
If you live nearby, do yourself a favor and order a
ticket.
Kim Gottlieb-Walker also updates us on the progress on her Behind the
Curtain with John Carpenter book. Apparently we have to wait even longer:
"Right now, Malek Akkad at Trancas Films is doing everything he can to track
down my negatives and high quality prints of my photos (contacting Anchor Bay,
etc)...but my next book will be a follow-up to the Reggae book about the various
Rock & Roll and Popular Culture Heroes I photographed during the late '60s and
early '70s...so the Carpenter book is on a back burner until we can track down
more of the art."
Then I just want to let you know that all the articles/interviews has been
scanned again with a brand new scanner this time. I wasn't happy with the
quality of the old scans. Two more articles were also found and added. Enjoy
yourself a good read. I am also going to scan some pictures again.

My friend Joe Thornton also found this interesting picture of a band called
The Ray Milland Band on the set of Escape From New York. You can clearly see the
wreckage of Air Force One behind them in St. Louis. Great find Joe.
I will also upload some new pictures this weekend. English Production Notes
of EFNY too.
13/02-11:

I finally came around to scanning the WHOLE Escape From New York Novel for
all of you to enjoy. It was a lot of work, but since I'm such a nice guy I did
it anyway. Every Escape From New York and Snake Plissken fan should read it (if
they want to that is. I'm not forcing you.) Kudos to Joe Thornton who provided
me with this copy: Press - Escape From

And here's something for all you hungry fan fiction aficionados out there. I
got a hold of a Snake Plissken fanzine called Dark Paradise... Tails of The
Snake which was released in 1998 by Last Minit Press. It has 10 stories and 122
pages scanned and ready (by me) for you to read. I have only begun to read it
myself. Some seem promising, some seem way too girly and one story in particular
called New Years Martini is just plain dirty. Shame on you. Anyway, enjoy:

Here's also some sad news. Kim August:
I Heard You Were Dead:
Snake Plissken fan site/The
Meaning of MacReady
etc has decided to shut down her websites. I want to personally thank her for
her passion and contributions to the Snake universe etc during the years. Rest
assured. I was granted permission to use all her unique interviews and such on
my site. Still it's a sad day. I wish you all the best Kim. By the way,
Kim August is also the author of two stories featured in the Dark Paradise
fanzine: Gassed Light and You Know What They Did To Bob? This woman never seize
to amaze me.
09/01-11:
Deal Central confirms that Jeremy Renner has not been offered the role of Snake
Plissken.
Jeremy Renner Will NOT 'Escape From New York' The Wrap

The whole BrokenSea Audio Production of Escape From New York has been added. I
never thought they would continue. Too often people never finish what they
started. Appreciated. This is a well made production that continues with more
interesting stuff at the end which may lead to a new original series. Snake is a
bit too talky and swears way too much though, but I guess it would have been a
rather quiet audio show otherwise. Stay tuned for an upcoming interview with
Stevie K. Farnaby of BrokenSea Production and Director of this series:
